Governor Susanna Martinez leads the ribbon cutting ceremony

July 30, 2013–

The New Mexico Department of Transportation was joined by Governor Susana Martinez and elected dignitaries to recognize the completion of the Bridge at Highway 599/County Road 62 interchange project with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

AUI, Inc. constructed the new bridge that includes ascending and descending ramps along with two separate roundabouts at each end of the intersection. This interchange will provide motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians a safer way to access 599 and adjacent neighborhoods and facilities on the west side of the City and County of Santa Fe.

“Our state transportation officials realized there were growing safety issue at this particular area and determined a fix was needed to alleviate traffic congestion and crashes, and facilitate easy access to popular areas within the city,” said Governor Martinez.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation designed and provided construction management of the project which began in April 2012. ”The completion of this bridge and interchange will improve the safety of the traveling public, and provide additional access to the surrounding residents”, said NMDOT Cabinet Secretary Tom Church. “The department is pleased with the collaborative working relationships through Federal Highway Administration, the City and County of Santa Fe which made this project possible.” Project Information
